A3 Mechanic is a diesel and horizontal directional drilling mechanic shop and a licensed equipment dealer, based at 4350 Hogshead Rd in Apopka, Florida, and serving contractors across Orlando and Central Florida. How A3 started

The company behind A3 Mechanic has been in business since 2015. It did not start as a business chasing outside work. It started because a group needed its own trucks and machines kept running, and waiting on somebody else’s schedule was costing more than it was worth. Once the shop was set up and the mechanics were in place, the work that came out of it was good enough that outside contractors started asking. The shop opened its doors to them, and what began as internal maintenance became a full service shop that sells and services equipment for anyone running iron in Central Florida.

That origin still shows up in how the place operates. A shop built to keep a working fleet moving is built around uptime rather than around billable hours, and that bias carried over: diagnose it properly, fix it once, and get the machine back to work.

What we do under one roof

Everything happens in one building in Apopka, which is the whole point.

Shop service. Preventive and corrective maintenance and repair on heavy machinery and HDD rigs, work trucks and diesel engines from diagnostics through complete repairs, DEF diagnostics and DPF regeneration, A/C and electrical work, and certified welding and fabrication.

Mobile service. Diagnostics and many repairs at your yard or on the jobsite across Orlando, Apopka and Central Florida, with the bigger jobs coming into the shop.

Hydraulics in house. Diagnostics, leaks, hoses, cylinders and pumps for HDD rigs, excavators and work trucks, with no middleman between you and the repair.

Trailers. Repair, refurbishing and manufacturing, including Flatbed HDD, Dumpster and Reel HDD builds, along with brakes, hubs and bearings, tires, wiring and lights, hitch and coupler work and structural welding.

Machines and parts. New and used machines, HDD parts and tooling, locating equipment, mud supplies and portable air compressors, plus pre-purchase inspection on used trucks and machines you are considering buying somewhere else.

Universal HDD and ELGi in Florida

A3 Mechanic is a Universal HDD dealer in Florida. The UNI rigs, mixers, tanks, mud pumps and drilling fluid line are sold through this shop, and so is the service and parts support behind them, which means a crew running a Universal machine is not waiting on another state to answer the phone. The shop is also an ELGi portable air compressor representative in Florida, selling and servicing the trolley and skid mounted units that utility, construction and water well crews run.

Licensed equipment dealer

A3 Mechanic is a licensed equipment dealer, not a yard that resells machines and hands the buyer a bill of sale. Title, registration and sales tax are handled the way a licensed dealer handles them, so paperwork is not something you sort out after the handshake. It also means the machines on the lot were inspected and serviced by the mechanics in the same building, and that the shop servicing your machine after the sale is the shop that sold it to you.

The people

The mechanics here have more than twenty years each working on heavy machinery, HDD rigs and work trucks. That experience is the reason the shop specializes where it does. A drill rig does not fail like an excavator, an excavator does not fail like a work truck, and a mechanic who has spent two decades around all three knows where to look before the covers come off. The same people handle shop work and mobile calls, so a machine diagnosed on your jobsite carries into the shop with the same hands and the same notes.
