What we carry

HDD Rigs. Directional drills are the heart of the used inventory, and the yard runs from small utility rigs to mid and large capacity machines. In stock now: 2024 Ditch Witch JT20, 2018 Ditch Witch JT20 Package, 2018 Ditch Witch JT10 - Pck, 2016 Ditch Witch JT20, 2008 Ditch Witch JT2020, 2007 Ditch Witch JT2020 and 2006 Ditch Witch H115 on the Ditch Witch side. On the Vermeer side: 2020 Vermeer D24x40 S3, 2020 Vermeer D20x22 S3 Pkg, 2018 Vermeer D10x15 S3, 2017 Vermeer D23x30 S3 and 2014 Vermeer D9x13. Vacuum and support units run through the same yard, including the 2014 Vermeer Vac LP533DT, the 2014 Vermeer Vac LP833SDT and the 2021 Vermeer CS870GT. Machines such as the 2013 Ditch Witch JT25, the 2019 Vermeer D20x22 S3 and the 2010 Vermeer RTX1250 are examples of what rotates through, so if you do not see your size today it is worth asking what is coming in.

Construction Equipment. Compact track loaders, skid steers, mini excavators, wheel loaders and dozers move through here alongside the drills. In stock now: 2019 Bobcat T595, 2018 Takeuchi TL8, 2018 Wacker Neuson ST31, 2020 Kubota SSV75, 2016 Kubota KX040-4 - Mini Excavator, 2018 JCB 407 T4 Wheel Loader, 2019 John Deere 350G LGP and 2024 Cougar CG827. Machines like the 2023 John Deere 317G, the 2020 Kubota SVL75-2 - Compact Track Loader and the 2025 Bobcat MT100 are examples of what rotates through.

Work Trucks. Used trucks show up with the machines, because the crews buying a drill usually need something to pull it. The 2004 Kenworth T300 Flatbed is in stock. The 2014 Freightliner Business Class M2 106 and the 2017 International 4300 SBA are examples of the kind of truck that comes through.

Air and locating. Used air and locating gear sits in the same building as the machines: 2017 Atlas Copco XAS 185, Airman PDS185S, Ingersoll Rand P185 and the 2018 US Radar Q4-300 GPR System. Used locators get tested before sale, the same as everything else on the locating bench.

Why buy from A3

A3 Mechanic is a licensed equipment dealer, which means title, registration and sales tax are handled properly instead of being your problem after the handshake. More important for a used machine, we are a working diesel and HDD shop first. The mechanics who inspect and service the machines we sell are the same mechanics who repair Vermeer, Ditch Witch, Bobcat, Kubota, Takeuchi, John Deere, JCB and Wacker Neuson equipment for contractors across Central Florida, with more than twenty years each on heavy machinery, HDD rigs and work trucks.

That is why the service history matters. When a machine comes in on trade or on consignment, it goes through the shop, and what the mechanic finds goes on paper. We service what we sell and we stock what we service, so the parts, the tooling and the hands that keep the machine running after the sale are all in the same building in Apopka. If you are looking at a machine somewhere else, we also do pre-purchase inspections as a service, in the shop or out at the seller’s yard. Buying a used drill is a big decision and it is cheaper to pay a mechanic to look at it first than to find out on your first bore.

Who this is for

Used equipment from our yard goes out to HDD contractors running one or two rigs who need a second machine without stepping up to new money. It goes to utility and fiber installers taking on longer runs and bigger bores. It goes to site work contractors who need a track loader or a mini excavator that will show up ready to work on Monday, and to fleet owners replacing tired iron one unit at a time. If you work anywhere in Orange, Seminole, Lake or Osceola county, the shop is close enough that service after the sale is a short drive, not a freight problem.

How pricing works

When a price is fixed, the price is on the listing. You can see what the machine costs before you pick up the phone. When a unit depends on how it is configured, what tooling goes with it, or whether it leaves as a package with a vac unit and rods, the listing says Call for price, because quoting a number on a package we have not built yet would not be honest. Trade-ins and consignment are both things we do, and both depend on the machine, so ask us and we will look at what you have. Prices, availability and what is sitting on the yard change as machines sell, so call (689) 688-6796 to confirm.

Frequently asked questions

Can I see the service history before I buy?

Yes. Most of the used machines we sell were serviced in our own Apopka shop, so the work that was done on them is on file here. Ask for the history on the specific unit you are looking at and we will go through what was repaired, what was replaced and what the mechanic noted at the time.

Do you inspect a used machine before I buy it somewhere else?

We do. A pre-purchase inspection is one of the services the shop offers on HDD rigs, heavy machinery and work trucks, including machines you found through another seller. Our mechanics check the engine, hydraulics, drive system and electrical, then tell you what they found. Call the shop to set it up.

Is the equipment ready to work when I pick it up?

Machines we sell are inspected and serviced in the Apopka shop by the same mechanics who repair those brands. If a unit needs work before it changes hands, the work is done here rather than left for the buyer. Anything we chose not to repair is pointed out to you before the sale.

How do I take delivery?

Pickup is at our shop at 4350 Hogshead Rd, Apopka, FL 32703, Monday to Friday, 7 AM to 5 PM. If hauling the machine yourself does not work for your crew, ask about delivery when you call and we will talk through the options for your location.

Do you handle the title and registration?

A3 Mechanic is a licensed equipment dealer, so title, registration and sales tax are handled the way a dealer handles them. You are not left to sort out paperwork on your own after the sale. Bring your company information and we will take it from there.

Machine down? Truck in the shop too long?

Talk to a mechanic at our Apopka shop, Mon to Fri, 7 AM to 5 PM. Shop and mobile service across Central Florida.
