ELGi Portable Air Compressors in Florida
A3 Mechanic is an ELGi portable air compressor representative in Florida, and we stock the trolley mounted and skid mounted diesel and electric units at our shop at 4350 Hogshead Rd in Apopka. These compressors are built for construction, mining, oil and gas, water well and rugged remote sites, and they are designed around efficiency, productivity and ease of use rather than around a spec sheet. Pickup is at the Apopka shop, or ask about delivery. Call (689) 688-6796 and we will size a unit to the tools your crew actually runs.
What we carry
ELGi Compressors. The full line is in stock. At the compact end, the GP 35FP and the GP 75 cover small crews and light tool work. The D90KA steps up for crews running more air than a small unit can hold. In the middle of the line, the D185T4F and the DS185T4F are the workhorse sizes for utility, fiber and general construction crews, and the DS185T4F adds capability for the jobs that keep asking for more. Above those, the D300T4F, the D400T4F and the D425T4F handle heavier continuous demand, sandblasting and multi tool work. At the top, the D800T4F is the large capacity unit for the sites where air is the bottleneck.
Air Compressors. Used air comes through the same yard, so you are not stuck choosing between new and nothing. Units such as the 2017 Atlas Copco XAS 185, the Airman PDS185S and the Ingersoll Rand P185 have been in stock, inspected and serviced in the Apopka shop before listing. Our mechanics work on Atlas Copco, Ingersoll Rand and Airman machines as well as ELGi, so a used unit bought here has a shop behind it.
Trolley mounted units are towed from site to site and are what most construction and utility crews buy. Skid mounted units stay where they are set, which is what water well operations, remote installations and fixed plant work usually want. Diesel and electric drive options run through the line, so the choice comes down to where the unit will live and what it has to feed.
Why buy from A3
We are a licensed equipment dealer, so title, registration and sales tax are handled the way a dealer handles them. More to the point for a compressor, A3 Mechanic is a working diesel shop. The mechanics here have more than twenty years each on heavy machinery, HDD rigs and work trucks, and a portable compressor is a diesel engine and an air end bolted to a trailer. The engine work, DEF diagnostics and DPF regeneration, A/C and electrical, hydraulics in house including hoses, cylinders and pumps, and certified welding and fabrication are all done in the Apopka building.
We service what we sell and we stock what we service. That is the reason to buy air here instead of from a catalog: when the unit will not build pressure on a Tuesday morning, the people who sold it are the people who can put it on a lift. Parts, machines, trailers, HDD tooling and locators are under one roof, and trailers are part of what we do as well, including sales, manufacturing and refurbishing, which matters when a towable unit needs work on the running gear rather than on the compressor.
Sizing is the other half of the job, and it is where most crews lose money. A compressor that is too small runs at full load all day, burns fuel and dies early. One that is too large costs more to buy, more to tow and more to feed than the work requires. The honest way to size a unit is to add up the air your tools pull at the pressure they need, allow for the tools that run at the same time, and then pick from the line. That conversation takes a few minutes on the phone and it is worth having before you order.
Who this is for
ELGi portable air goes out to HDD contractors and utility and fiber installers who need air on the bore site, to site work contractors running breakers, tampers and pneumatic tools, to water well operations, and to fleet owners who would rather standardize on one compressor line than maintain four. Sandblasting crews, concrete crews and general contractors across Orange, Seminole, Lake and Osceola counties buy here for the same reason: the shop is close, and the unit was serviced by the same people who will service it later.
It also fits the contractor who has been renting air by the week and has finally done the math. Once a rented unit is on your site most of the month, owning one stops being a luxury and starts being cheaper than the invoice you already pay. If that is where you are, bring the rental line off your last few job costs and we will talk about which unit covers the same work.
How pricing works
Prices on this line are published where they are fixed, so you can see what a GP 35FP, a GP 75, a D90KA, a D185T4F, a DS185T4F, a D300T4F, a D400T4F, a D425T4F or a D800T4F costs before you pick up the phone. Where a unit depends on configuration or on what leaves with it, the listing says Call for price rather than showing a number we would have to change. Trade-ins and consignment are both possible, so ask us about the compressor you are replacing. Availability moves, so call (689) 688-6796 to confirm what is on the lot.

Frequently asked questions
Which ELGi compressor size do I need?
It comes down to the air your tools actually pull and the pressure they need, not to the biggest number on the page. The line runs from the GP 35FP and GP 75 through the D90KA, D185T4F, DS185T4F, D300T4F, D400T4F, D425T4F and D800T4F. Call (689) 688-6796 with your tool list and we will size it with you.
What is the difference between trolley mounted and skid mounted?
Trolley mounted units are towed behind a truck and moved from site to site, which is what most construction and utility crews want. Skid mounted units stay put where they are set, which suits water well, remote sites and fixed installations. Both come in diesel and electric drive depending on the model.
Do you service compressors as well as sell them?
Yes. A3 Mechanic is a diesel and HDD shop first, so compressor engines, hydraulics, A/C and electrical work, and certified welding and fabrication are all handled in the Apopka shop. We service what we sell. Shop service and mobile service are both available across Central Florida.
Do you carry used air compressors too?
We do, alongside the new ELGi line. Used units such as the 2017 Atlas Copco XAS 185, the Airman PDS185S and the Ingersoll Rand P185 come through the yard and are inspected and serviced in the shop before they are sold. Ask what is on the lot when you call.
How do I take delivery of a compressor?
Pickup is at our shop at 4350 Hogshead Rd, Apopka, FL 32703, Monday to Friday, 7 AM to 5 PM. If towing it home does not fit your schedule, ask about delivery when you call and we will go over the options for where you are working.
Machine down? Truck in the shop too long?
Talk to a mechanic at our Apopka shop, Mon to Fri, 7 AM to 5 PM. Shop and mobile service across Central Florida.
